Sony Ericsson steps up music marketing campaign: Signs Usher

Sony Ericsson has stepped up its music marketing campaign by signing five-times Grammy award winning artist Usher to promote two of its new Walkman handsets.

The marketing push, to be rolled out from June onwards, will span over 20 European countries and includes sponsorship rights for Usher’s full European tour later in the year. The singer will also be charged with publicising the W350 and W980 MP3 player handsets.

The move represents a further advance in Sony Ericsson’s focus on music, after the manufacturer recently announced it is in the process of expanding its PlayNow service.

John Bernard, Sony Ericsson Music Marketing Manager had this to say:

Working with an artist such as Usher is an ideal fit for us. Here we are at the start of an electrifying launch campaign, poised to deliver a totally 360 degree experience for all consumers and Usher fans alike, it’s truly an exciting prospect.
