Webkit web browser for UIQ3!

Finally! The fabulous Webkit engine has been ported to UIQ, resulting in a new web browser called @Web, by Digia.

The browser will feature:

  • Full finger touch UI
  • Page control with finger
  • Four zoom levels
  • Intelligent Bookmark functionality
  • URL auto-complete (from history)
  • Automatic full screen browsing via auto-hiding Address bar and Navigation bar
  • Page rotation for portrait and landscape browsing
@Web will be available in public beta for all UIQ 3-based smart phones in June.

Isn't opera good enough?

And will opera 9.5 be available for us UIQ users?

Opera 8.65 bundled with the current UIQ 3 phones is pretty good, but the bar has been raised since opera was made for UIQ 3. So its just nice to have a choice isn't it? :)

There's a lot of speculation whether Opera 9.5 will be available to us older UIQ 3 owners or not. Frankly, my guess is it will be available for us. Some videos have surfaced which show the new Opera 9.5 featuring on a P1, so lets not lose hope now shall we? :)
