XPERIA X1 may share panel interface with other WM handsets

Its just been confirmed that Sony Ericsson is going to launch the XPERIA X1 on the 30th of September and now Sony Ericsson’s Ramanath Bhat has hinted at the possibility of not only opening up the Panel interface for developers, which we’ve already heard about, but releasing the entire UI for other Windows Mobile phones. For those not in the loop, the XPERIA X1 can be personalised through its nine panel user interface to suit the user’s moods and lifestyle. Users can access content quickly and directly through the touch screen, easily switching between applications by touching one of the unique customisable panels.

It is a very surprising move by SE. The panel interface will surely be one of the key selling points of the device. So its surprising that SE is willing to share it with competitors.
