Kareena Kapoor signed on as brand ambassador of Sony Ericsson India

With immense stardom comes immense credibility. How and why is completely debatable. But it's a fact that Kareena Kapoor can easily vouch for.

The Bollywood Diva is a wanted entity by one and all brands. If Anne French, Sony Vaio, Head and Shoulder and Airtel weren't enough, joining their league now is Sony Ericsson. Kareena has now been signed on as the brand ambassador of Sony Ericsson India.

The ad film for Sony Ericsson was shot at Mehboob Studios and has been directed by director Anuj Alia and produced by Arpan Fernandes of Cut 2 Cut Films. Cut 2 Cut Films is a new production house and this is their maiden production. Saatchi & Saatchi is the creative agency for the Sony Ericsson account.

Rachael Announcement 3rd Nov - packs 32GB internal memory

Sony Ericsson has just launched the 'What’s Next?' campaign website and posed the question “Sometimes there’s a thin line between the extraordinary and the magical. Did we cross it?”

There’s no doubt in anybody's mind that its related to the Rachael's announcement, which is now confirmed to be on 3rd November. Sony Ericsson South Africa have also confirmed everything in a Twitter status update.

Also, what looks like an official sales brochure of what is Sony Ericsson make-or-break project appeared online, revealing another particularly cool unknown aspect about the handset. This state of the art Android handset will pack 32GB of internal memory, expandable even further with memory cards. This is yet to be confirmed though.

If you include that in the previously known specs - Android 2.0 (Eclair) with Sony Ericsson’s customized user interface, an 8-megapixel camera, 4.1-inch capacitive touch screen with a 854 x 480 pixel resolution, 3.5 millimeter audio connector, and a 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU, it's not easy to decipher that Sony Ericsson really has a winner up its sleeve.

Sony Ericsson to add logo colours!

In order to make things a little more interesting, Sony Ericsson has designed versions of its logo in several colours, including pink, blue, orange and purple. This will be a marked departure from their famous silver-green spherical logo, which has remained since the formation of the joint venture between Sony and Ericsson in 2001. Dave Hilton, UK marketing director at Sony Ericsson, said there was ‘clearly a desire to freshen up our advertising'.

Sony Ericsson had rolled out a fresh look for its mobile phone brand in 2006, when design agency Wolff Olins ‘wrapped' the green liquid logo within emotive messages.

The revamp comes ahead of the company's ‘biggest-ever' £8m campaign, promoting its Entertainment Unlimited proposition. This comprises the Satio, Yari and Aino handset models alongside its PlayNow music- and film-download service.

Ana Ivanovic and Elena Dementieva play a unique match

To mark the start of the prestigious Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha, Sony Ericsson staged a unique tennis game in a place that has never been played in before - a desert island. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Doha skyline, Ana Ivanovic and Elena Dementieva rallied on a replica tennis court, specially built for the occasion, on Palm Island in the middle of Doha Bay in the Arabian Gulf.

After the game, 2008 Roland Garros Champion Ana Ivanovic said:

It was such a fun way to start the Sony Ericsson Championships; it was amazing and so unusual to be playing tennis on a deserted island with no one there but Elena, myself and the ballboys. I’m really looking forward to the tournament here in Doha and a great finish to the 2008 season.

The Sony Ericsson Championships is the prestigious end of season finale to the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour year; and sees the world’s top eight women singles and top four women’s doubles teams compete for the title and a share of a record prize money of $4.45 million. The Championships sees female players from eleven countries: Australia, Czech Republic, Japan, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, United States and Zimbabwe compete to end the 2008 season on a high.

This was a fantastic way to celebrate the beginning of the Sony Ericsson Championships. All the players have played brilliantly during the season and have earned a deserved shot at this prestigious title,” said Aldo Liguori, Corporate Vice President and Head of Global Communications & PR. “We are committed to innovating and introducing unique activities in women’s tennis to continue to attract new fans and broaden the appeal of the sport on a global basis. It has been a great year for the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and I hope through events like this we can attract more fans to the Tour and the exciting prospect of the 2009 season.
The stunt involved a replica tennis court being constructed on Palm Island, similar to the court in the Khalifia Stadium where the Sony Ericsson Championships are being held.

The number 5 seed, Elena Dementieva commented:

It was such a special experience to play a game of tennis in the middle of the sea looking back at the Doha skyline - what a great memory to have of Doha. I’m really excited for the Sony Ericsson Championships to begin and showcase my best tennis to end the season.
The Sony Ericsson Championships will run from November 4th to November 9th and the line up for the tournament has been finalised: Jelena Jankovic (SRB), Dinara Safina (RUS), Serena Williams (USA), Elena Demeniteva (RUS), Ana Ivanovic (SRB), Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS), Venus Williams (USA) and Vera Zvonereva (RUS) will all compete for the singles crown. Doubles players Cara Black (ZIM) - Liezel Huber (USA); Anabel Medina Garrigues (SPN) – Virginia Ruano Pascual (SPN); Kveta Peschke (CZE) - Rennae Stubbs (AUS); and Katarina Srebotnik (SLO)- Ai Sugiyama (JPN) will compete for the doubles title. The Sony Ericsson Championships will be held in Doha, Qatar for the next 3 years, after being held in Madrid for the past two years, with Justine Henin having won the title in 2007.

Sony Ericsson is committed to bringing entertainment, innovation and glamour to tennis by creating unique sporting events such as the 2008 Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha. This tournament will bring the excitement of the game to a new audience, with the city of Doha set to benefit from the biggest tennis event ever to be held in the region. Sony Ericsson strives to energize the audience experience at the Championships, by bringing them closer to tennis through the integration of innovation and technology.

I'll hand it over to them! Sony Ericsson might not be the market leaders, but they surely launch the most eye catching, and this time droolworthy, advertising campaigns! Remember the Z555 Ad campaign with Maria Sharapova? mrgreen

Well, I have some VERY interesting news for you! smile And in line with everything related to Sony Ericsson, it's being claimed as a first for the industry. Sony Ericsson has signed a rumoured five-figure deal with FHM (For Him Magazine), an international monthly Men’s Lifestyle magazine, to promote the C905 cameraphone in the December issue, just in time for the holiday shopping season smile
Sony Ericsson are leaving no stones unturned to promote its new 8.1 Megapixel Cybershot flagship, which has further blurred the line between digital cameras and mobiles.

Sony Ericsson are giving it all they have, especially highlighting the image quality, which is indeed superb. If you have any doubts, check out the image below. And yeah...it was shot on the C905! biggrin

Btw....there's a phone in the middle of the photo...just in case you miss it wink ( I can understand..it took me half an hour to find it too! mrgreen)
