More on Sony Ericsson’s Android venture

Our friend Michell at USEB has just posted a few more tidbits about Sony Ericsson's Android venture, which am sure most of you'll be interested to know about. So here goes:

  • The first Android-based handset will be a high-end product.
  • The Android platform won’t be exclusive to high-end products, and will also be used in mass-market products in the future.
  • Android-based products won’t be niche products, and Sony Ericsson will continue developing phones based on Symbian and Windows Mobile.
  • As of now, there are no specific announcement or release plans for any Android-based product by Sony Ericsson.
Am sure the last point will disappoint all those who had learned from various sites ( read: rumours) about Sony Ericsson's readiness to launch an Android device in summer 2009. We, on the other hand, knew better than to believe those rumours, which is the reason you'll have seen the notable absence of that particular piece of information. However, you can bank on us to supply you with all you need as soon as we hear something substantial from SE's side.
