XPERIA X2 to be announced on June 17th?

With all the leaks in the recent times, this won't come as a surprise to many. Rumors on the blogosphere indicate that Sony Ericsson is all set to announce the successor to the XPERIA X1 on June 17 in Singapore. The Swedish handset vendor is said to be organising a press event during CommunicAsia on June 17 in Singapore (1630 hours local time). If the X2 is announced tomorrow, it should come under the Entertainment Unlimited Banner.

The X2 is believed to be a major upgrade to the X1 that would run the more touch-friendly Windows Mobile 6.5 and have a new panel interface that, among other changes, would add support for Remote Play to link with a PlayStation 3 for media sharing.

Previous rumoured specs hinted at major hardware improvements with a 3.5-inch OLED screen ( this is too much to expect!) , a faster processor with 512MB of RAM ( Its confirmed that it'll have only 256 MB RAM), an 8.1-megapixel camera and a native 3.5mm headset jack. When it will ship isn't known, though it should be before the end of the year.
