XPERIA X2 Announced - Definitely drool-worthy!

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 was eagerly expected and finally has its moment.
Sony Ericsson finally made a move by announcing its second Windows Mobile smartphone, the XPERIA X2. It would be among the most technologically-advanced smartphones using Microsoft’s operating system.

This becomes clear after a quick glance at its specifications –
Boasting Windows Mobile 6.5 and relying heavily on the X Panels UI ( more on this a bit later), a 3.2-inch WVGA display, full QWERTY keyboard, 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus and photo flash, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi with DLNA, A-GPS, TV-out, Bluetooth and a microSD slot (supports up to 16GB cards).

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 is a Windows Mobile 6.5-based smartphone and as it was with the X1, its interface is personalized with Panels, which change the homescreen layout. It will come with 14 panels straight out of the box, but additional 16 will be available for download. Today, Sony Ericsson also announced its Panel SDK, which should allow the developers to easily create new panels. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 also packs a new feature called SlideView. It is said to give you a quick access to all missed events – calls, e-mails and messages.

The CPU still remains unknown, while the memory is crystal clear - 256 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM and 110 megabytes of user storage. The XPERIA X2 will also come with XviD video support, which will surely delight a lot of people.

And the best bit, the XPERIA X2 will hit the shelves sometime in early Q4 this year! That means just a few more weeks to go. It should be launched sometime in october, owing to microsoft's windows mobile 6.5 announcement around that time itself, in the colours Elegant Black and Modern Silver. XPERIA™ X2 supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 850/900/2100.
