With quite a few rumours floating on the net, Sony Ericsson has re-confirmed that the XPERIA X10 will NOT support multi-touch. SE Communication Manager Harold de Kort has reiterated the company line that the X10 will most definitely not receive any update to include pinch zoom because of hardware limitations.
Multi-touch will not be a feature in future updates for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 because the device does not support multi-touch due to her software and hardware configuration. The operation and user experience of the phone will be further improved and Sony Ericsson will come with her own intuitive way of, for example, zooming in and out
Well,I guess that more or less settles the issue. Pinch to zoom is nice, but its absence is not the end of the road for a device. Other zooming solutions, like the one seen on the X10 mini, are intuitive and pretty cool too.
